Nach den glücklichen und zufriedenen Jahren in Dresden, sah sie sich nun erneut vor den Scherben einer sorgenfreien Zeit.

Beide versuchten einen Neuanfang in Zürich, bezogen eine gemeinsame Wohnung, in der auch Minnas Tochter Natalie ein Zuhause fand, aber die Entfremdung warfare zu groß, die Klüfte der Umstände zu tief. Auch ein zweiter Versuch, dieses Mal wieder in Paris, scheiterte und die Trennung wurde vollzogen. Dennoch ließ sich das Ehepaar nicht scheiden und Minna verblieb als Richard Wagner Kapellmeisters Frau bis zu ihrem Tod.
